DAVE DOES IT AGAIN: MGGILLIVRAY FINISHES 43RD STRAIGHT BOSTON MARATHON

COMPETITOR.COM

Dave McGillivray has been the Boston Marathon race director since 1988, but he’s also run the course 43 years in a row—including 27 of the last 28 at night long after the rest of the finishers have reached the finish line on Boylston Street. (In 2013, after terrorist bombings disrupted the day, he ran the course 11 days after the race had completed.) Starting late on Monday afternoon from Hopkinton, he completed the course on Monday night in the pouring rain with six friends (plus actor Sean Astin, who ran the marathon earlier in the day in 4:49, pacing along on a bike) in about 4 hours, 35 minutes. He was the last of the 26,610 official finishers for the 119th running of the race. McGillivray, 60, who owns a 2:29:58 marathon PR, has completed 127 marathons and competed in eight Hawaii Ironman Triathlons.
