THE MARTIN RICHARD FOUNDATION, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BOSTON BRUINS FOUNDATION, NEW BALANCE, AND DMSE SPORTS, ANNOUNCES SECOND ANNUAL MR8K – A RUN FOR GRATITUDE

ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE

BOSTON, MA – The Martin Richard Foundation, in partnership with the Boston Bruins Foundation, New Balance and DMSE Sports, today announced plans for the second annual MR8K – A Run for Gratitude to be held on Labor Day, Monday, September 2, 2019 at Warrior Ice Arena at Boston Landing in Brighton, the practice facility of the Boston Bruins. Registration is now open at BostonBruins.com/MR8K

To reflect the spirit of the Martin Richard Foundation, the theme of the MR8K will again be a ‘Run for Gratitude’. Runners will have the opportunity to join Team MR8 as part of the 2019 MR8K team, joining hundreds of runners from across the country and around the world who fundraise for the Foundation and act as ambassadors advancing the Foundation’s values of sportsmanship, inclusion, kindness and peace.

“The MR8K is an opportunity to bring the community together and express gratitude for people and organizations who selflessly serve others. This year, we are so excited to also be welcoming new runners to the Team MR8 family,” said Terri Ladka, Executive Director of the Martin Richard Foundation. “Our inaugural MR8K exceeded all expectations, and we can’t wait to welcome participants to Warrior Ice Arena for what is sure to be another memorable experience for runners, walkers and para-athletes of all ages and abilities.”

Produced by DMSE Sports, Inc., the 5-mile course will take place in and around Warrior Ice Arena at Boston Landing. More than 2,000 people participated in last year’s inaugural event at TD Garden, which resulted in a $100,000 donation to McLean Hospital’s LEADER program to support first responders.

“New Balance and NB Development Group are proud to welcome the second annual MR8K to Warrior Ice Arena at Boston Landing in support of the Martin Richard Foundation’s important mission to promote volunteerism and community engagement around sportsmanship, unity and kindness,” said Amy Dow, Director of Government Affairs & Public Relations for New Balance.

Registration is $45, with proceeds benefiting the Martin Richard Foundation. Participants who choose to fundraise and commit to raise a minimum of $300 for the Foundation will receive free entry into the race and a limited edition 2019 MR8K Team MR8 race shirt. The event is open to runners, walkers and para-athletes of all abilities, as well as families with small children.
