ULTRA RUN AND MOTION FILM FESTIVAL ADDED TO RACE-MANIA SUMMIT AND EXPO

Sun Multisport Events has today announced that the Joe ‘Stringbean’ McConaughy and the Ledlenser Trails in Motion Film Festival have been added to the programming line-up of the 2020 RACE-MANIA Summit and Expo. This year’s expo will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the Boston University Fit Rec Center in Boston, MA.
RACE-MANIA is positioned as the Northeast USA’s premier gathering dedicated to educating, equipping and inspiring endurance athletes preparing for a new season.
Joe McConaughy is an ultra-running coach and professional ultra runner for Columbia. He has had domestic and international success racing ultramarathons including UTMB, the Lake Sonoma 50 Miler and the Vermont 100 Miler. He has set the Fastest Known Times (FKTs) on the Wicklow Round in Ireland (supported; 2018), Appalachian Trail (self-supported and overall; 2017) and Pacific Crest Trail (supported; 2014).
At RACE-MANIA, McConaughy will present, ‘Lessons Learned from My World Record Run of the Appalachian Trail’. The talk will focus on taking on the seemingly insurmountable challenge of running 50 miles a day for 45 days through one of America’s most famous wilderness trails as well as the mindset, skills and methodology that have successfully guided the athlete throughout his ultramarathon career.
Ledlenser Trails in Motion is an annual international film and content showcase that presents a collection of ‘the finest trail and ultra running films available to passionate audiences around the world’. Trails in Motion consists of four short films that feature inspiring runners, scenery and iconic trails and events.
The films will be shown in the state-of-the-art Dance Theater at the BU Fit Rec Center starting at 17:00 ET. The festival will be hosted by Joe McConaughy and Patrick Caron, a successful mountain ultra trail runner who has competed in races around the world. Patrick Caron is also founder of Move Free, a lifestyle brand whose mission is to celebrate nature and help protect and preserve outdoor spaces, and the Boston Bulldogs Running Club, a non-profit running club established to provide support for those adversely affected by addiction.
The 2020 RACE-MANIA Summit and Expo is keynoted by the inspirational Tim Don, a 3x Olympian and 4x World Champion who will be interviewed by endurance sports legend and Boston Marathon Race Director, Dave McGillivray.
RACE-MANIA also features 25+ additional speakers who will be presenting seminars, clinics and workshops throughout the day, plus multiple competitive events and an expo with 75+ sponsors and exhibitors. The event is expected to draw 2,000 attendees.
